it seems to be our week for caves with a visit to another cave yesterday. this time to the 'the stalactite cave nature reserve'.
this was the view to the left on the way down - you can see another cave just to the left of the center.
this amazing cave was discovered by accident in 1968 while quarrying in the area. the age of some of the stalactites and stalagmites in this cave are at least 300 thousand years old. quite mindboggling.
people were talking about the different forms they could see. witches, ice cream cones, a monkey. all i could see were forests and tree forms :) !!

We live in a cave-region, too and it's always a bit like visiting the stomach of the earth with those bizarre and wondreous structures!

[p/s that history of art book that you picked up is generally used for introduction classes to art at the college level. the profs i had would make us read PARTS of it, but not all of it. the thing that always gets to me is how male dominated it is... even the newer editions. although i haven't seen one since the early 90's]
